A: Teenagers must be between the ages of 14-18 to qualify employment.
A: No. The jobs listed are generally chore work that most teens are used to doing. More complicated work will probably be listed for the older teenagers of the group such as: installing things, errands that may require transportation, etc. It all depends on the needs of the neighbor that is hiring.
A: Apart of the Just Hire Me process requires for teens AND parents/ guardians (18+) to have an introductory meeting with the neighbor. Parents should know who their child is working for and where they will be. Our process also includes “checkpoints” of notifications that must be responded too in order to keep us informed of what is going on, this is also for parent’s peace of mind. We do this for the safety of the youth but we are not trying to alienate the neighbor so always remain respectful of one another. Regular employers are not interrogated for safety so keep that same respect in mind. Remember these are your neighbors! The best thing to do to avoid trouble is to introduce everyone in person.
"A: We will follow ALL child labor laws and requirements! Teens under a certain age will only be able to work for so long. Teens above a certain age can work longer, but will still have the breaks that are required for them to take. Here is a link to the child labor laws for Ohio."
A: Yes. However each will be compensated separately and not on one card payment. We will handle all payment processing.
A: All teens (14-18) will be compensated at the same pay rate of minimum wage ($8.10 in OH). It is important to note that compensation to the teens IS included in the hourly payment rate!
A: A job could be cancelled because the teen called off or the neighbor cancelled the job. In the case that the teen does not show up at the scheduled time, the neighbor must attempt to contact the teen after a 5-10 minute grace period. If the teen is unreachable, the job will be cancelled. Please contact us as soon as possible so that we can rectify the situation.
A: The hourly rate pays for operations of the site, payment processing, job training, scholarships for the teens and compensation towards the owner. This is a business for teenagers and this website helps to organize and structure employment for them in a professional way. Our website also keeps track of each user for the safety of the teens. You could simply hire a teen, but our subscription will grant you access to more teens. It will probably require more than one neighbor to fully employ one teenager. Your subscription will grant you use of the website each month depending on which model you sign up for. We do this for the safety of the teen in particular, rather than approaching them on the street at random. The professionalism of this process also encourages teens to be professional with real world experience.
A: You will only be charged for the hours that you have hired a teenager. If you are dissatisfied we will place you with another teenager. You have the option to stop service being rendered to you at any time. There are NO REFUNDS. If you are unhappy with the teenager stop the service. Please email us so that we can improve any service issues.
A: If a teenager feels uneasy about the neighbor they are working for, they should first inform their parents via cell phone or ask the neighbor to use their phone. At this point you do not have to tell them why you are needing to contact your parent/guardian. Once your parent is notified tell your employer in a respectful manner that you are not feeling well or that you do not think the job is a good fit. There should be good reason to take this step and not just as an excuse. Keep in mind there is a rating system that neighbors can use for the youth workers. If neighbors are uncomfortable for one reason or another simply tell the youth in a respectful manner that they can go home for the day. Whatever work they have done for the hour must be paid to them regardless! Contact their parent/ guardian to notify them of their teen being released from work.
A: We want to encourage everyone to not only do their due diligence in meeting the neighbor, but also conduct a search of addresses in your local area for offenders. Here is a link to the sex offender website where you can type in your own address to see the faces and addresses of offenders. is a link the sex offender website where you can type in your own address to see the faces and addresses of offenders.
